Darío Fuentes

Darío Fuentes is a global executive with over 25 years of managing growth and digital transformation strategies in the financial and fintech industry and a regular advocate of innovation as a driver for change in organizations.

Currently working at Santander, he has recently launched the new global financial consumer platform of Santander (Zinia) and has developed multiple open innovation initiatives through partnerships since joining the bank seven years ago.

Previously, he was Executive Vice President of BAC Florida USA Digital Bank, Head of Business Development for PayPal in Latin America, and established CAM Bank in Miami (Sabadell), as Senior Vice President and General Manager.

Darío served as FIBA president from 2010 to 2011. In this role, he drove strategic innovation as a key tool for growth, established agreements with international organizations, collaborated with the Federal Reserve, and represented the industry through national and international presentations.

Darío holds a degree in business administration from the University of Granada, Spain. He has a Master's in financial markets from Comilla’s´ Pontifical University and a Master´s in Corporate Innovation from Stanford University. He specialized in Blockchain and Big Data applied to Social Behavior at MIT Sloan.
